Unilever is recognized for the tenth consecutive year in 1st place on the GlobeScan SustainAbility Leaders list, through its annual survey, as a leading company in corporate sustainability based on the opinion of 700 experts from more than 70 countries. This survey compiles the opinions of government representatives, NGOs, business experts and academics who recognize how the agenda on this important issue is evolving and how companies are integrating sustainability into their strategies. In particular, Unilever was mentioned by 42 percent of participants, which represents an increase of 5 points compared to the 2019 results. GlobeScan analyzes the metrics regionally so it chooses strategic points in America, Europe, Asia and Africa for evaluation.
It was in 2011 when the company reached the top places in the survey, a few months after presenting its Unilever Sustainable Living Plan (USLP). For 10 years, this plan has made a difference in the protection of forests, female empowerment, improvements in health conditions, as well as support for sustainable Guatemala Mobile Number List agriculture. Through it, more than 1.3 billion people improved their health and hygiene conditions, the amount of raw materials from sustainable sources increased from 14% to 62% in all their products and now they only use electrical energy from 100% renewable sources in operation around the world. In June this year, Unilever launched new commitments and actions to combat climate change, the protection and regeneration of nature as well as the preservation of resources for future generations.
This includes targeting zero emissions from all its products by 2039 and a deforestation-free supply chain by 2023. This recognition reinforces Unilever's vision to position itself as leaders in global corporate sustainability, with the aim of generating value for all its social, environmental and economic interest groups. The company will continue to pursue even more ambitious and progressive goals to achieve.The National Association of the Chemical Industry (ANIQ), in coordination with Charlotte Chemical International, a Mexican specialty chemical company with more than 30 years in the market, made a donation of 3,000 protective masks to the Mexican Red Cross. Miguel Benedetto, General Director of ANIQ and Engineer Flor M. Gómez Rábago, General Director of Charlotte Chemical, endorsed the commitment of the chemical sector towards health workers.
